The Nursing Spewer is a medium-sized Terminid with Light armor, appearing in bug missions on Medium difficulty and higher. These large, hulking creatures have small faces and massive abdomens filled with orange eggs. They are brown and orange in color and often accompany Scavengers. Nursing Spewers appear to be related to Bile Spewers, possibly as gravid females or sub-adults that have not been exposed to toxic E-710 runoff.
Spawning
Nursing Spewers appear in bug-related missions starting on Medium difficulty and above.
Behavior
Nursing Spewers attack by spewing acidic vomit, tracking Helldivers slightly slower than their green counterparts, the Bile Spewers.
Unlike Bile Spewers, they do not possess a bile mortar attack on Extreme difficulty or higher.
While alive, Nursing Spewers generate a persistent hip-level fog, similar to a scaled-down version of the Spore Spewer’s clouds. This fog conceals the movements of smaller Terminids, such as Scavengers, and can hide other ground-based threats. Once the Nursing Spewer is killed, the fog rapidly dissipates.
Tactics
- Headshots are the most effective way to eliminate them, as their Light armor allows all weapons to deal full damage to this weak spot.
- Explosives are highly effective. A well-placed grenade, such as the G-16 Impact Grenade, can instantly kill or severely weaken a Nursing Spewer, sometimes even eliminating two at once.
- The RS-422 Railgun can kill with a single headshot or two body shots, even in Safe mode.
- The GL-21 Grenade Launcher can take down a Nursing Spewer in two to three rounds, making it effective against groups of Spewers.
- The APW-1 Anti-Materiel Rifle will eliminate them with a single headshot.
- The SG-8S Slugger requires two headshots to kill but is significantly weaker when targeting the body. However, its stagger effect interrupts the Nursing Spewer’s attacks, making it easier to land additional shots.
- The ARC-3 Arc Thrower kills in two headshots and can stagger the Nursing Spewer, disrupting its attacks and making it vulnerable.
- Their abdomen contains acidic pus, which explodes when shot, even after death. Helldivers should avoid shooting corpses to prevent unnecessary damage.
