Overview of Zagon Prime

Zagon Prime is one of the four planets within the Mirin Sector, known for its blistering heat, vast deserts, and relentless sandstorms. Positioned on the outer fringes of Federation space, the planet was once a vital frontier world before falling into Terminid control. As of August 2184, Zagon Prime has been engulfed by The Gloom, leaving its status unknown and unobservable.

Topography

Zagon Prime’s scorching surface forces Helldivers to endure the Intense Heat Environmental Condition, significantly affecting stamina and mobility. The landscape is dominated by endless dunes, with rocky mesas providing the only real elevation.

Much like Durgen and Choohe, periodic sandstorms frequently sweep across the planet, reducing visibility and hampering movement for both Helldivers and their foes. These conditions can offer strategic advantages, allowing covert maneuvers, but can just as easily trap soldiers in disorienting, lethal environments.

History

Zagon Prime was one of the primary objectives of Operation Prime Liberation, an SEAF-led offensive to reclaim lost territory from the Terminids. Alongside Fori Prime, the planet was a key target, but Helldivers were unable to complete the liberation before the expiration of the Major Order.

Despite this setback, the Helldivers launched several incursions into Zagon Prime, bringing the planet to the verge of liberation by February 8, 2184. However, before the final push could be made, the Terminid Control System (TCS) failed, triggering Operation Umlaut Firebreak and redirecting all available SEAF forces to contain the sudden Terminid mutations spreading across the galaxy. Zagon Prime was abandoned, and Helldivers would not return for several months.

By June 2184, after the destruction of the Meridia Supercolony, Super Earth forces once again advanced into the Mirin Sector. During Operation Hive Breaker, SEAF command prioritized Nivel 43 and Fori Prime for liberation, but Helldivers briefly returned to Zagon Prime, marking the first recorded presence on the planet since the TCS failure.

However, on June 25, 2184, Nivel 43 fell, once again cutting off access to Zagon Prime. No further liberation attempts were made, allowing the Terminids to strengthen their foothold.

On August 6, 2184, SEAF Outer Reconnaissance Stations detected a massive interstellar spore cloud near Enuliale, later identified as The Gloom. This rapidly expanding nebula of Terminid spores began engulfing nearby systems, reaching Zagon Prime by August 9, 2184. By August 16, 2184, the planet was declared unobservable, as SEAF satellites and surveillance probes ceased transmitting.

Currently, the status of Zagon Prime is unknown. Several reconnaissance probes have been dispatched, but all have gone dark upon entering the system. The ominous ochre cloud of Terminid spores continues to shroud the planet, leaving its fate and whatever horrors lurk within a mystery.
