Overview of Wasat

Wasat is one of the five planets in the Ymir Sector, characterized by its rocky hills, foggy atmosphere, and acidic terrain. This desolate world became a battleground during Operation Metallic Harvest on May 11th, 2184, when Automaton forces launched an aggressive attack.

Topography

Wasat is a harsh, inhospitable planet covered in brown rock and sand, stained yellow by the constant acidic environment. Its dense, teal-colored skies cast a perpetual gloom over the landscape. Mushroom-shaped mountains and jagged hills dominate the terrain, with flatter regions interspersed between them. Acid-filled craters and terraced lakes pose constant drowning hazards, while low visibility and acid rain create an unforgiving battlefield for Helldivers.

History

Prior to the Second Galactic War, Wasat was an unremarkable but highly patriotic colony of the Federation, thriving among its acidic pools and towering plateaus. Despite reports of skirmishes occurring in March 2184, the Ministry of Truth dismissed these claims as Automaton psychological warfare or dissident propaganda.

On May 11th, 2184, Automaton forces advanced from Meissa to Wasat, launching a full-scale invasion. Over 6,000 Helldivers were deployed within the first hour to combat the invasion. However, with most Helldiver forces engaged at Lesath and Menkent, only 4,000 defenders remained on Wasat by May 12th. By the end of the day, Wasat had fallen to the Automatons.

A liberation campaign was launched immediately, but Helldiver numbers dwindled to a mere 2,000, with liberation progress dropping to 19.7%. By early June, only 50 Helldivers remained on the planet. When Vega Bay fell on June 3rd, Wasat was cut off, and Super Earth forces abandoned the campaign.

On June 7th, the destruction of the Meridia Supercolony freed up SEAF resources, enabling Operation Valiant Resistance. With Vega Bay and Wezen liberated, Helldivers stormed Wasat on June 9th. The acidic, foggy terrain and Automaton resistance made the battle grueling, but by June 10th, Wasat was fully liberated.

During this campaign, SEAF Cyberwarfare Specialists breached Database One, an Automaton intelligence hub on Wasat, uncovering vital information about Cyberstan’s terraforming, the Meridia Supercolony’s impact, and enigmatic terms such as “Vessel 00” and “The Final Collective”. These discoveries reinforced High Command’s strategic objective: Cyberstan must be liberated at any cost.

In early July, the Automatons launched Operation Starslayer, attempting to cut off Helldiver reinforcements. On July 5th, Wezen fell, and both Wasat and Vega Bay came under attack. With Vega Bay’s supply lines more critical, Super Earth forces prioritized its defense. However, instead of fully committing to Wasat, the Automatons suddenly withdrew, redirecting their assault toward Meissa. This deceptive strategy was repeated unsuccessfully on July 7th, and Wasat remained under Helldiver control.

By July 17th, Operation Righteous Expunge had pushed the Automatons back to Vega Bay, but a desperate counterattack was launched against Wasat on July 21st. With Helldivers redeployed to defend Turing, Automaton forces overwhelmed SEAF, claiming temporary control over the planet within 24 hours. However, with Automaton forces still encircled, their gains remained fragile, as a dedicated Helldiver detachment continued a slow and methodical purge of the invaders.
