Overview of Ustotu
Ustotu is one of the five planets in the Trigon Sector, characterized by sandy deserts and unstable tectonic activity. The planet played a pivotal role in both the Automaton Expedition and the Second Galactic War, being the site of prolonged battles between Super Earth forces and the Automatons. Initially liberated during Operation Swift Disassembly, it later became a key battleground as the Automatons launched multiple offensives in an attempt to secure the region.
Topography
Ustotu shares similar geological features with Erata Prime, being a vast desert world with frequent seismic activity. Sand dunes, jagged rock formations, and tectonic rifts define its surface, making traversal hazardous. The dry climate and intense heat pose additional challenges to both defensive and offensive operations.
History
During the Automaton Expedition of February 2184, Ustotu became a key defensive point for Super Earth forces as Automaton incursions swept across the Western Galactic Rim. While initial Helldiver resistance slowed the enemy advance, Ustotu was caught in a prolonged battle, only managing to repel the Automaton invasion once resources were diverted to the war effort in Tien Kwan.
Following Operation Swift Disassembly, Ustotu was successfully liberated, ensuring Super Earth’s continued control over the region. However, this victory was short-lived, as the Automatons returned just days later, overwhelming defenses and launching a new campaign to retake lost ground.
As the Second Galactic War erupted, Ustotu found itself once again at the center of conflict. The Automatons attempted to expand their foothold, launching multiple raids across the Trigon Sector. While early defensive operations successfully repelled attacks on key planets, the fall of Varylia 5 forced the Helldivers into a defensive position.
On June 9th, 2184, the Automatons launched a renewed offensive on Ustotu, quickly overwhelming Super Earth forces due to strategic prioritization of Vega Bay. Despite efforts to regroup, the loss of Troost and subsequent reinforcements from Choepessa IV sealed Ustotu’s fate, keeping the planet under Automaton control for the next several months.
During Operation Liberty Crush, the liberation of Choepessa IV and Varylia 5 created an opportunity to retake Ustotu, cutting it off from Automaton reinforcements from Cyberstan. The Helldiver counteroffensive began on July 31st, with intense battles against entrenched Automaton forces. The fight stretched into August 1st, marking one of the longest engagements in the Trigon Sector.
Although Ustotu was eventually liberated, the Automaton garrison at Wezen successfully fortified their defenses, preventing Super Earth from achieving complete victory in Operation Liberty Crush.
