Overview of Troost
Troost is one of the five planets in the Trigon Sector, once serving as a critical Automaton long-range communications hub. Its capture and subsequent analysis provided Super Earth Intelligence with crucial insights into Automaton operations, including early warnings of new enemy units and strategic objectives. During the Second Galactic War, Troost became a heavily contested battlefield, witnessing multiple invasions and counteroffensives as both sides vied for control.
Topography
Troost is geologically and ecologically similar to Penta and Nivel 43, featuring ashen forests, rocky outcrops, and parasitic flora. A persistent grey fog blankets the surface, reducing visibility and providing natural concealment. The planet’s remote location at the edge of the Galactic Rim made it an ideal communications hub for the Automatons, though this strategic positioning would ultimately lead to its downfall.
History
For over a century, Troost remained a peaceful colony within Super Earth’s vast expanse, its citizens thriving among the unique flora and stable climate. However, in February 2184, the Automatons launched a massive offensive across the Western Galactic Rim, swiftly overrunning the colony and establishing a communications array to coordinate operations in the Severin Sector.
Troost’s initial liberation came during Operation Swift Disassembly, where Super Earth forces successfully dismantled the Automaton stronghold. Intelligence teams salvaged critical data, uncovering blueprints for aerial gunships and fragments of transmissions sent beyond the Galactic Frontier. Despite this victory, the Automaton invasion of Cyberstan and subsequent Second Galactic War would soon bring the conflict back to Troost’s doorstep.
As Automaton forces surged across the Valdis and Trigon Sectors, Super Earth scrambled to contain the onslaught. Defensive lines were stretched thin, forcing key planets like Varylia 5 and Choepessa IV into protracted battles. In June 2184, after capturing Ustotu and launching multiple offensives into the Xzar Sector, the Automatons overwhelmed Troost’s defenses, reestablishing control over their former communications hub.
Following months of intense warfare, Super Earth launched Operation Andromeda, severing the Automaton front and pushing into their remaining strongholds. By August 10th, 2184, Troost and Vandalon IV stood as the last remnants of Automaton occupation in the Western Galactic Rim. After securing Vandalon IV on August 12th, the Helldivers immediately turned their focus to Troost, engaging in fierce ground combat against entrenched enemy forces.
On August 14th, 2184, Troost was finally liberated, marking a decisive victory for Super Earth and crippling the Automaton’s strategic communications. The battle dealt a significant blow to the enemy, one from which they have yet to fully recover.
