Overview of Terrek
Terrek is one of the seven planets in the Orion Sector. Despite its barren, lunar-like conditions, the planet plays a strategic role in the Second Galactic War, particularly in colonist relocation efforts following the Terminid crisis.
Topography
Terrek shares many similarities with Fenrir III, featuring rocky, cratered landscapes and frequent meteor showers. The planet’s surface is harsh and largely uninhabitable, with scattered greenhouse farms being the only means of sustainable food production. Due to its thin atmosphere and extreme temperatures, most of its population lives in pressurized habitats within subterranean colonies.
History
For much of 2184, Terrek remained cut off from the rest of the Orion Sector due to the initial Terminid Outbreak. In an effort to prevent further infestation, its FTL Lines were severed, leaving it isolated alongside its neighboring planet, Azterra. Despite this, Terrek’s self-sufficiency was limited, and as time passed, its resources dwindled due to its inhospitable environment and lack of long-term sustainability.
On November 6th, 2184, Terrek was reconnected to the FTL Network, restoring its link to Azterra, Cirrus, and Bore Rock. However, this decision came at a critical moment, as the Terminids launched a large-scale offensive, aided by spore surges from the Gloom.
With the Democracy Space Station nearing completion, Terrek was selected as one of three key processing sites for displaced colonists whose homeworlds had fallen to the Gloom. Alongside Cirrus and Angel’s Venture, it was designated as a protection target under a Major Order. However, due to a lack of direct Terminid assaults, Terrek remained undisturbed, allowing its colonists to continue their daily democratic lives in peace while aiding in the grand relocation effort to the DSS.
