Overview of Merak

Merak is one of six planets in the Valdis Sector and represents the farthest point where Helldivers have ever spread democracy. It is also the closest Super Earth Armed Forces (SEAF) have ever reached Cyberstan, the Automaton stronghold. Despite its strategic value, Merak has remained cut off from Super Earth since the failure of the Terminid Control System, leaving its fate uncertain.

Topography

Merak’s terrain closely resembles that of Malevelon Creek and Veld, featuring dense ionic forests occupied by the Automatons. While it shares similarities with Malevelon Creek, it was never as brutal, with Helldivers reporting only a few thousand troops deployed at once during its campaigns.

History

Merak was first accessed during Operation: Legitimate Undertaking, which successfully freed Penta from Automaton control and allowed Helldivers to push into the Valdis Sector. However, this victory was short-lived, as the failure of the Terminid Control System forced Super Earth High Command to divert all forces back to the Terminid front. This left Penta defenseless, allowing it to fall once more, severing Merak from liberty’s grasp.

By October 2184, only one Super Destroyer remained orbiting the planet, still transmitting signals back to Super Earth. However, all communications have since gone silent, leaving its status unknown.

To this lone warrior, we dedicate this passage, for they truly stand as the brightest spark of freedom in the fight against the Automatons.
