Overview of Meissa

Meissa is one of the five planets in the Ymir Sector, a world rich in lush plant life, heavy rainfall, and thick fog. The planet’s green moonlight, visible through the mist at night, adds to its ethereal beauty. However, despite its natural splendor and democratic values, Meissa has become a frontline battleground, with an Automaton offensive threatening to transform it into a cold, mechanical wasteland.

Topography

Meissa features flat terrain with rocky formations, frequently covered in floating plant debris and volcanic ash. The constant rainfall and dense fog significantly limit visibility. Large oceans, lakes, and vast jungles define the planet’s geography. The local wildlife includes small, glowing insects, which emit red and blue bioluminescence. Helldivers must remain cautious, as volcanic activity can create hazardous fire zones across key battle areas.

History

On April 20, 2184, Meissa was drawn into the Second Galactic War, becoming a frontline world as Automaton forces launched their first assault. This attack was part of a coordinated offensive alongside the Terminids, stretching Helldiver forces dangerously thin. The defense of Meissa was ultimately unsuccessful, and by April 21st, SEAF forces had been completely overrun.

Following the Declaration of the Galactic War on Tyranny, a liberation campaign for Meissa began on April 22nd. However, the crisis in the Umlaut Sector forced Helldivers to shift focus to the Eastern Front, causing Meissa’s liberation to progress at a sluggish pace—only 1.05% per day on average. With Automaton control solidifying, their forces pushed south, extending their occupation into Charbal-VII, Choepessa IV, and eventually Wasat. By May 13th, Meissa had fully fallen to the Automatons.

The summer of 2184 saw renewed efforts to liberate Meissa under Operation Valiant Resistance on June 10th. Following the successful capture of Wasat, 13,000 Helldivers landed on Meissa. However, their numbers quickly dwindled as a new offensive at Aesir Pass diverted reinforcements. By July 3rd, Helldiver presence had shrunk dramatically, with liberation progress nearly reset. That same day, a new defense order was issued for the X system, and 15,500 Helldivers launched an assault on Meissa.

By July 4th, the liberation was nearly halfway complete, though troop numbers dropped again as focus shifted to X-45. After X-45’s liberation on July 5th, 10,000 Helldivers returned to Meissa, ensuring its final liberation. This victory secured vital supply lines and opened access to Matar Bay.

However, the Automatons launched a counterattack from Matar Bay shortly after Meissa’s liberation, forcing Helldivers into another defensive engagement on July 6th. The Helldivers prevailed, ensuring Meissa remained under Super Earth’s control.

For the remainder of 2184, Meissa enjoyed peace, with colonists focused on reconstruction. However, in February 2185, Operation Shattered Skies saw Meissa once again become a battleground. The resurgence of the Illuminate had thrown both the Terminid and Automaton fronts into chaos, creating new vulnerabilities.

On February 3, 2185, Automaton forces from Matar Bay invaded Marfark, cutting off a crucial FTL route. Two days later, on February 5th, the Automatons attacked Meissa once again, determined to reclaim lost territory and undo the gains made during the 2184 liberation campaigns.
