Overview of Irulta

Irulta is one of the four planets in the Saleria Sector, located in the Southern Galactic Rim. Once a peaceful and prosperous colony of Super Earth, the planet has since become a prime target for the Illuminate, suffering multiple invasions and catastrophic destruction during the Second Galactic War.

Topography

Irulta’s terrain is similar to Baldrick Prime, featuring lush jungles, volcanic activity, and vast, untamed wilderness. The planet is home to unique avian species and regularly experiences volcanic eruptions, which contribute to its unstable yet resource-rich environment.

History

Irulta was a peaceful Super Earth colony that thrived after the First Galactic War, benefiting from stable governance and economic growth. Colonization efforts were relatively smooth, and the planet’s rich natural resources allowed its settlers to construct urbanized settlements similar to those on neighboring Calypso. However, its peace was shattered on December 30th, 2184, when the Illuminate launched a large-scale invasion as part of their resurgence campaign. The Helldivers, fresh from securing Liberty Ridge, deployed immediately to defend the planet. Despite their efforts, the Illuminate managed to escape after 12 hours of intense fighting, leaving behind devastated settlements and abducted colonists.

Following a series of raids across the Southern Galactic Rim, Irulta was targeted again on January 11th, 2185. This time, the attack followed the plundering of Ilduna Prime. With most of the Helldivers occupied in the Farsight Sector repelling a Terminid incursion, only a small force was available to support Irulta’s defense. Once again, the Illuminate overwhelmed the defenders, abducting more civilians and causing widespread destruction before retreating.

The raids on Irulta continued into February, but the Illuminate’s goals shifted from simple plundering to a more insidious purpose. On February 4th, 2185, the Illuminate returned, now intent on harvesting Dark Energy, a resource crucial to their effort to power the Meridian Singularity, a massive superweapon aimed at Super Earth. The Helldivers, preoccupied with liberating Chort Bay and fighting the Jet Brigade, could not fully respond, allowing the Illuminate to complete their operation unopposed.

As the Meridian Singularity moved dangerously closer to Super Earth, High Command issued critical orders to stop the Illuminate from acquiring more Dark Energy. On February 8th, 2185, the Helldivers launched a desperate counteroffensive across the affected sectors, culminating in Operation Ink & Thunder. On February 11th, the Illuminate struck Irulta again, this time with the dual objective of abducting more civilians and extracting more Dark Energy. Recognizing the dire consequences of failure, the Helldivers deployed over 50% of their available forces to defend the planet. The battle raged for hours, and while the Helldivers inflicted severe losses on the Illuminate, it was ultimately too late. During the battle, scientists confirmed that the Meridian Singularity had reached critical momentum, sealing the fate of Angel’s Venture, the planet in its path.
