Overview of Ingmar
Ingmar is one of the five planets within the Xzar Sector, characterized by its barren landscape, rocky ridges, and vast stretches of crimson algae covering its hills and valleys. While its open terrain facilitates airstrikes and orbital bombardments, it also leaves little cover for Helldivers against enemy fire, making engagements more challenging.
Topography
Ingmar’s surface is mostly barren, with minimal natural obstacles beyond scattered ridges and rock formations. The crimson algae that covers the land provides an eerie contrast to the planet’s otherwise desolate environment. The lack of dense terrain allows for unobstructed air and orbital support, but also exposes troops and defenses to enemy fire.
History
Ingmar was among the first planets to face the Automatons’ invasion of the Western Galactic Rim, as the mechanical forces of tyranny began their expansion into the Xzar and Severin Sectors. The initial defense efforts proved insufficient, and as the Automatons cut off supply lines and overran neighboring Mort, Ingmar fell under enemy control by early March 2184. The planet remained occupied while the Helldivers focused on deploying the Terminid Control System (TCS) in the Eastern Galactic Rim to contain the Terminid threat.
Following the successful activation of the TCS, the Helldivers shifted focus back to the Automatons, launching Operation Swift Disassembly to liberate Xzar and Severin. With a coordinated counteroffensive, the Automaton frontlines collapsed, and Ingmar was freed before the first week of April 2184 had concluded.
However, this victory was short-lived. Within just 48 hours, the Automatons launched a second, much larger invasion, reclaiming Cyberstan and the Valdis Sector before pushing toward Malevelon Creek. While Mort faced a minor assault, Ingmar remained untouched until the official declaration of the Second Galactic War.
As the Automatons concentrated forces at Charbal-VII, Ingmar stood as a critical stronghold for Super Earth’s western front. On June 19th, the Automatons launched a renewed assault, swiftly capturing Mort before setting their sights on Ingmar the following day. Despite their rapid offensive, the Helldivers mounted a decisive defense, successfully repelling the attack and reclaiming Mort in the process. This victory also crippled an ongoing assault on Pöpli IX.
However, the Automatons quickly adapted, establishing a new FTL Line from Vandalon IV into Mantes. Following their failed invasion of Mantes, they immediately redirected their forces back to Ingmar. A second attack ensued on June 23rd, but was once again repelled by the morning of June 24th.
As of now, Ingmar remains under the protective mantle of Managed Democracy, but with the Automatons maintaining control over Vandalon IV and demonstrating the capability to generate new FTL lines, the planet’s security remains in constant jeopardy.
