Overview of Hort
Hort is one of the five planets in the Rigel Sector, known for its peaceful history until the resurgence of the Illuminate. Despite avoiding early conflicts in the Second Galactic War, Hort eventually became a battleground for multiple Illuminate invasions.
Topography
Hort’s landscape is similar to Bellatrix, Achernar Secundus, Afoyay Bay, and Volterra. It features rugged mountainous terrain, vast open plains, and dense forested regions, making it strategically valuable for both defense and invasion.
History
For most of its existence, Hort was a tranquil colony of Super Earth, settled sometime between the First and Second Galactic War. Even when the Illuminate reemerged, attacking Calypso and other colonies in the Southern Galactic Rim, Hort remained untouched, despite the nearby invasion of Hesoe Prime.
However, this false sense of security was short-lived. On December 30th, 2184, the Illuminate launched a double invasion, simultaneously attacking Hort and Hesoe Prime immediately after their assault on Irulta. The Helldivers responded swiftly, deploying forces to defend Hort and repel the invaders. However, limited manpower and ongoing conflicts elsewhere left the defense understaffed, and after 12 hours of battle, the Illuminate successfully plundered Hort before retreating.
After the New Year, Hort was left devastated, its settlements in ruins and its people mourning the immense losses. Yet, the Illuminate were not finished. On January 18th, 2185, they attacked Hort once again, as part of Operation Democracy Delivered. This time, the Helldivers deployed in greater numbers, determined to bring justice to the war-torn planet. However, with forces already stretched thin defending Ilduna Prime and Alathfar XI, the defense ultimately failed again, allowing the Illuminate to plunder Hort once more before escaping.
