Overview of Genesis Prime

Genesis Prime is one of the seven planets in the Rictus Sector. On December 16th, 2184, it became the second planet to be attacked by the Illuminate in the Second Galactic War, mere hours after the first battle against the Illuminate at Calypso.

Topography

Genesis Prime shares its landscape with Malevelon Creek, Veld, and Merak, existing as an Ionic Jungle world blanketed by dense forests, perpetual twilight, and frequent ion storms in the upper atmosphere. However, unlike many other jungle-covered planets, Genesis Prime is also highly populated, boasting urban sprawl akin to that of neighboring Calypso. This combination of thick jungle terrain and extensive urbanization ensures that combat on Genesis Prime is always up close and brutal.

History

Genesis Prime was an unassuming colony in the Southern Galactic Rim, having been settled sometime after the First Galactic War. Its history was largely uneventful, its economy stable enough to sustain its growing population and eventually allow for the construction of urban settlements, complete with paved roads, functioning infrastructure, and, most importantly, well-manicured green lawns—hallmarks of any true Super Citizen’s home.

However, this prosperity would not go unnoticed. The Illuminate, their minds warped by xenophobic envy, could not tolerate humanity’s success. Having suffered a righteous defeat at Calypso, the Squ’ith sought vengeance and launched a second attack on Genesis Prime, hoping to shatter its defenses before reinforcements could arrive. The Helldivers, fresh from their victory at Calypso, were quick to respond, determined to crush the invaders once more.

Yet, the Illuminate had other plans. In a calculated maneuver, they deployed additional forces to nearby Mog, another valuable colony rich in infrastructure. High Command, recognizing the strategic importance of both planets, issued immediate orders for defense, forcing the Helldivers to split their forces. The new objective was not just to hold Genesis Prime but to protect an additional seven planets from the onslaught of the Squ’ith invaders.

Despite their valiant efforts, the Helldivers were unable to prevent the Illuminate from looting Genesis Prime. Although the invasion fleet was ultimately repelled, the damage was done—its cities lay in ruins, its citizens displaced, and its infrastructure shattered. But as with all things under the rule of Liberty, reconstruction would begin, and Genesis Prime would rise again.

Months later, the Illuminate would once more turn their gaze upon Genesis Prime. As part of a coordinated assault on January 20th, 2185, the aliens launched a daring triple invasion against Genesis Prime, Canopus, and Brink-2, hoping to recover from their mounting losses across the Southern Galactic Rim. The Helldivers, now operating with the fully repaired Democracy Space Station, mobilized with unprecedented speed, determined not to repeat past failures.

With Genesis Prime bearing the brunt of the attack, the main fleet prioritized its defense. By the time the Helldivers arrived, the Illuminate had already gained significant ground, and the situation seemed dire. However, Liberty had other plans. With the recent liberation of Heeth, reinforcements from the Terminid Front were now available, and the Democracy Space Station had just activated its Heavy Ordnance Deployment, unleashing devastating orbital firepower upon the invaders.

As the Helldivers made their final push, the combined might of orbital barrages and relentless ground combat obliterated the Illuminate invasion force. With less than four hours remaining before the aliens could escape with their spoils, the Helldivers successfully destroyed their fleet, forcing the Squ’ith into a catastrophic retreat.

The people of Genesis Prime erupted in celebration. Their colony had been avenged, their dead honored, and the nefarious invaders cast back into the void. While scars of war remained, Genesis Prime stood resilient, a beacon of Democracy and defiance in the face of tyranny.
