Overview of Demiurg

Demiurg is one of the six planets in the Tanis Sector, strategically positioned at the border between the Tanis and Arturion Sectors. This placement makes it a critical barrier, preventing direct encounters between the Terminids and Automatons. Despite its initial obscurity, Demiurg became a major battleground in the Second Galactic War, as Automaton forces sought to breach its defenses and expand their occupation across the sector.

Topography

Demiurg’s terrain is similar to Shelt and Martale, featuring rugged landscapes, vast plains, and scattered forests. The planet’s natural resources supported a thriving colonial economy, with logging, farming, and mining as primary industries. Its remote location initially provided a sense of security, but this changed drastically when Automaton forces began advancing through the Tanis Sector.

History

For much of the Second Galactic War, Demiurg remained a relatively uneventful Super Earth colony, its inhabitants leading peaceful lives. However, this tranquility was shattered when the Automatons launched their expansionist campaign in April 2184, beginning with the invasion of the Valdis Sector. In response, Super Earth forces severed the FTL supply lines connecting Tanis to other sectors, effectively shielding Demiurg from immediate danger while also isolating it from reinforcements.

By September 2184, the Automatons successfully occupied Clasa, leaving Demiurg cut off from Super Earth’s main forces. As Automaton influence expanded, Demiurg became a prime target, caught between the disconnected Arturion Sector and the heavily fortified Automaton stronghold at Clasa.

After Liberty Day, the situation worsened. The fall of Zefia and Yed Prior further isolated Demiurg, making it the last remaining Super Earth stronghold in the region. Meanwhile, the Automatons launched a massive offensive into the Gellert Sector, capturing Blistica and Mintoria on October 28th. It seemed their focus would remain on conquering Gellert, which would have bought Demiurg valuable time. However, unexpected resistance from Helldivers at Matar Bay and Zzaniah Prime forced the Automatons to shift their attention back to Demiurg.

On October 31st, the Automatons launched a full-scale assault on Demiurg. The planet’s colonial defense forces, having endured months of isolation, were under-equipped and unable to evacuate civilians. As Automaton forces pushed forward, Demiurg’s defenders sent desperate calls for aid, knowing they could not hold out alone.

Recognizing Demiurg’s strategic importance, Super Earth High Command mobilized half of the Helldiver Corps—an estimated 22,000 Super Destroyers—to reinforce the besieged planet. This intervention set the stage for one of the fiercest battles in the Tanis Sector, as Helldivers fought relentlessly to prevent the Automatons from seizing complete control.
