Overview of Claorell

Claorell is one of the six planets in the Tanis Sector, known for housing the Deep Mantle Forge Complex, a crucial facility responsible for producing metal plates and components necessary for the construction of the Democracy Space Station (DSS). The planet’s rich mineral deposits made it a target for Automaton forces, leading to several intense battles to liberate and defend its industrial infrastructure.

Topography

Claorell is a barren, cratered moon, similar to Maia and Curia, with rocky hills, cliffs, and deep mineral-rich deposits beneath its surface. The atmosphere is thin and polluted, a result of Automaton deep-mantle mining operations. The open terrain provides long-range visibility, but lacks natural cover, making combat engagements more dangerous.

History

Claorell remained a peaceful Super Earth colony for decades, exporting valuable minerals to support Super Earth’s industrial expansion. However, in September 2184, as Automaton forces moved to seize Imber’s titanium deposits, Claorell became a key strategic battleground.

On September 11, 2184, the Automatons launched a dual assault from Gaellivare and Vog-Sojoth, threatening Claorell and Imber. While Helldivers repelled the attack at Imber, Claorell’s defenders struggled, holding out for 16 hours before Helldivers reinforced them, securing the planet.

Following a temporary period of peace, on September 18, Automatons from Vog-Sojoth launched another invasion, capturing Clasa and Claorell as Helldivers were stretched thin on the Terminid front. However, Claorell was left under-defended, allowing Helldivers to recapture it on September 22. This success was short-lived, as Claorell fell again on September 23 due to a renewed Automaton assault.

During Operation Leap Forward, Claorell remained under Automaton control, as Helldivers prioritized the liberation of Gaellivare. The Automatons fortified their presence, integrating deep-mantle mining facilities into their war effort.

By October 7, Super Earth identified the Automatons’ mining tunnels, launching Operation Freedom’s Forge to seize and repurpose them for the Deep Mantle Forge Complex. After fierce battles, Helldivers liberated Claorell, securing the tunnels for Super Earth’s engineers. However, intelligence reports suggested Automatons were developing advanced armor plating, leading to further investigations.

The Automatons retaliated on October 8, launching multiple offensives to reclaim Claorell and its crucial mining infrastructure. Helldivers and colonial defenders, including local miners, fought alongside SEAF forces, repelling two consecutive invasions by October 10.

By October 28, as Automaton forces lost ground across the Tanis Sector, they launched a final assault from Clasa, aiming to cripple DSS production. Helldivers diverted the majority of their forces, successfully defending Claorell after 16 hours of battle, keeping the Deep Mantle Forge Complex operational.
