Overview of Bore Rock
Bore Rock is one of four planets in the Falstaff Sector, positioned on the southern border with a single FTL connection to Esker. The planet is known for its dense green forests, hazardous waters, and ancient fossilized trees, making it a challenging battlefield for both Helldivers and Terminids.
Topography
Bore Rock features a dense and overgrown landscape, filled with forests, rocky hills, and waterlogged channels. The planet’s terrain changes frequently, making movement difficult and dangerous. Treacherous bodies of water are scattered throughout, appearing shallow from a distance but deep enough to drown Helldivers instantly. The landscape is further complicated by ancient fossilized trees, towering far above the current tree line.
Bore Rock is also home to volatile gas vents, which emit green smoke and ignite upon contact with bullets or fire, causing explosive bursts across the terrain.
History
During Operation Falstaff & Jin Xi Lockdown, Bore Rock was one of several planets targeted by unexpected Terminid outbreaks in June 2184. The Helldivers successfully defended the planet twice, ensuring it remained under Super Earth’s control.
However, during Operation Glorious Xenocide, a third Terminid assault from Esker overwhelmed Bore Rock, leading to its fall on July 25th as Helldivers focused on larger liberation campaigns.
Bore Rock remained isolated from the rest of the war due to its single FTL connection to Esker. Its salvation came through Operation Benevolent Sanitation, when Socorro III broke its isolation and alerted Super Earth to new Terminid strains. This prompted a Major Order to quarantine and liberate Bore Rock and Esker, leading to Bore Rock’s liberation on August 10th with minimal resistance from the Terminids.
After its final liberation in August, Bore Rock remained under Super Earth’s control. With the expansion of its FTL network to Erata Prime and Terrek, the planet no longer relied solely on Esker for travel and supply routes.
On November 6th, Terminids launched a three-planet assault on Bore Rock, Heeth, and Esker. The Helldivers first defended Heeth, then reinforced Bore Rock to protect its connection to Terrek. However, a second attack followed on November 8th, forcing a 20-hour battle through the swamps and forests. By November 9th, the Terminids were decisively defeated, reducing resistance levels across nearby planets.
Following Operation Jetclipper, Bore Rock remained free of attacks until November 28th, when Terminids launched a surprise assault while Helldivers were focused on the Automaton front. With only a small defensive force, the planet fell to the Terminids on November 30th.
On December 5th, 2184, Operation Crop Dust was launched to secure resources for MD-8 Gas Mines, which required access to Esker’s salt reserves. Since Bore Rock blocked the route to Esker, the Helldivers engaged in battle, eradicating every Terminid nest by December 7th and restoring Super Earth’s control.
During Operation Wormhole Spaghetti, Bore Rock remained stable until December 23rd, when Terminids from Esker launched another attack. However, the Helldivers had just finished securing Erata Prime and Fenrir III, allowing them to intercept the invasion and defend the planet successfully.
